Well this weekend, Mark and I decided to pack up and head on up to Barrhead, northwest of Edmonton, to go and watch Ken participate in the 2010 Team Cattle Penning Finals. I live on Ken's farm and in the past year, he has had a sudden change of heart when it comes to Western Sports. Last winter, he was team roping like he has been for the past several years, until he dipped his toes into Team Penning and Sorting. It's a whole new game show now, we host Team Penning and 2 Man Sorting every Wednesday night at our place which is always a blast to have everyone out for. Now Ken's friend, Marty, all of 14 hands or littler, is the "cowiest" sun of a gun you've seen. On paper and on foot he's a horse to gawk at, and watching him work---well that's something you would have to see yourself. Words just don't do any justice for these 2 its just like watching magic happen. Ken and Marty are a force to be reckoned with and after placing Saturday, 1st, 3rd, and 15th in the 7 class, and overall 3rd in the 5 class on Sunday. They both loaded the trailer for home with both pride and satisfaction in stride. More awards are in the air for Ken and Marty come October for the official awards ceremony...so we will just have to sit tight! Congratulations to Ken and Marty, hope next year is just as successful--you guys deserve it bar none.
